Midnight Puppets is a black and white cartoon universe of hand-stitched puppets.

In the old town, day has never broken.

The clock on the tower runs four minutes fast, and nobody has ever put it right.
The bell rings without a rope. The lamps were never given a switch.

At the theatre, the footlights are up and the curtain is down, the seats numbered and never once sat in. The puppets are already in place.

Some are shy, some are playful, others bitter. Each on its own thread, and a temperament of its own.

For many years, somewhere in town, a light came on behind a closed shutter, and only at night. That, they say, is where the puppets come from.

Each one seems to have been stitched by hand, and carefully.
There is a gleam in every pair of eyes. Some you would recognise, others harder to place that nobody has ever been able to explain.

The universe is built on screen, one scene at a time.

The collection comes at the end of that road.
